Goodbye Syracuse

So I just got back today from another trip to Syracuse that was full of Marissa and I eating a lot. Why? Who knows, but I'll be damned if we base every part of the trip around food. We definitely had a good time over the weekend, and let's face it, anytime Saturday night ends with Marissa running through snow yelling, "Holy shit, I think I have pneumonia in my feet, " you know that it's been a good night albeit a tad overserved, but good nonetheless. If there were stuffed bears around, Iss would have been in a talkative mood.

My travel was a little eventful, because I have awful luck flying. Everything started on Thursday afternoon. With my flight scheduled to take off at 5:45pm, the Tornado Watch for Bloomington, IL that was announced at 2pm obviously made me a little upset. Luckily the storm was nothing and I got to Syracuse on time. The way home was a little more adventurous, since my flight out of Syracuse was delayed last night forcing me to stay in the Cuse for another night, which was an added bonus to the trip.

It's amazing that every stereotype on the plane was represented during my travels. I had the pregnant lady, the crying baby, the couple trying to fly with three kids (Sidenote #1: Seeing these families always make me want to schedule my vasectomy appointment.) and of course there was the guy who felt the need to have a dip on the plane...huh? This was obviously a first for me while traveling, but no joke the guy two seats over from me had a little Skoal as we flew into the Cuse. Luckily though he handed his spitter to the flight attendant as she collected the trash.

I did suffer a little casualty on this trip though since the brown belt that I started the day with may now be the property of Joe the security guard in Syracuse. Oh well, who needs belts when suspenders are becoming more and more popular.

The IU Coaching Search

Well the question that I'm asked the most is who I think the next IU coach will be, but I think that's it WAY too early for that. So the main thing right now is to say who I WANT to be the coach, so here's my actual short list, as opposed to the 14 coach "short" list that I made last Thursday.

1) Thad Matta
2) Mark Few
3) Rick Barnes

Curling Fever

I'll be honest, I have watched about 4 hours total of Olympic Coverage, and 3 1/2 of those hours have been the fantastic sport of Curling. I've decided that Curling is winter baseball. Couldn't you see yourself watching Curling just like you watch an Angels-A's Sunday Night Baseball game. You may watch the first two innings/ends and then watch another show, but check back on the Curling match for the score...ok so it's just Lindsey and I. Also, I've thought that I could totally see myself at a Curling match and getting up to get a beer between ends much like a baseball game. This sport NEEDS to catch on because I would totally watch this more than the NBA.

You better watch out, David Stern knows where you live and he will get you.

Doesn't it suck that the Winter Olympics are only held every 4 years? I've gone 4 years without curling!! I'm so happy every time I get to the gym after work and MSNBC is on, showing curling in all of its glory... Get it while it lasts, it will be a long 4 years till we get to see it again.

Watch out for Lindsey, Marissa and me at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics...now that Marissa is done with school we can really start focusing on our curling careers...although we are going to need to find a fourth...
